I did 23andMe DNA test and could not find a connection to all the relatives coming out of North and South Carolina. Finally narrowed down the Bleakney line, researchers the Loyalists and found David. Then I found your blog. Eleanor Bleakney was my Great Grandmother!
Please contact me - I would be so happy to share more pieces of our puzzles.
I was born in New Brunswick and live in Nova Scotia.
Cheers!
LisaAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10144602885676374061noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-103686796862913161.post-78959422258903435322019-04-25T16:12:57.348-04:002019-04-25T16:12:57.348-04:00My immediate Blakney's spell the name Blakney....My immediate Blakney's spell the name Blakney. I live 25 minutes from Peticodiac and have visited the small private Blakney Cemetery there. In 1984 there was a 200 year reunion of Blakney's and they placed a large stone plaque there commemorating his arrival in Peticodiac as the first English settler in the area. Ron Berry. I came across this page, which confirms what we have found. My husband is a descendent of David. Name now spelled Bleakney, from the branch that migrated to the Boston, MA area in the early 1900's.
Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16012819711738295345noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-103686796862913161.post-21653896884823318832017-01-12T11:09:41.509-05:002017-01-12T11:09:41.509-05:00I have published a book on David and his brother C...I have published a book on David and his brother Chambers - My Help Comes From Above. I now know for certain that they both were involved in the Battle of Kings Mountain in 1780 and were captured and were freed or escaped to fight at Ft. 96 in 1781.
