I was very jealous of his whistle too, as he hit every note in the scale effortlessly, although his cheeks were really puffed out! The local "depot" for Cushman was a quonset hut in Brunswick Maine very near Cooks Corner. The name was obvious on the side of the building until very recently.paBeehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11370278524583243436noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-103686796862913161.post-8287032042614570522019-08-31T21:53:18.690-04:002019-08-31T21:53:18.690-04:00In the late forties and early 50s the Cushman truc...In the late forties and early 50s the Cushman truck would come down our road, deep in the middle of NH, once a week. I have a book I bought at the Colchester Genealogy Center in Truro, NS a couple of years ago when I first started trying to trace the Hamilton side of my family. The lady that wrote the book had a family web site called Hamilton but she was hacked and shut it down shortly after i joined. I have been unable to connect with her as my email changed and so did hers. Do you happen to know how to get a hold of her. I noticed you referenced her book as above in this article. Appreciate any info you can share with me. I remember the "Cush Man" truck stopping regularly to stock us up on all kins of pastries. Added to what my grandmother was always baking we had a never ending supply of sweets. It's sad how today's standards would have the state take all the children away from such a home.<br />Unknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08985969173457327606noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-103686796862913161.post-16646102913318243522017-08-20T11:44:34.186-04:002017-08-20T11:44:34.186-04:00THANK YOU SO MUCH!! We still live just a few miles from the foundation of his old homestead. The rumor he had fought with Burgoyne is not true. He actually fought in the 17th regiment of foot in the british army until the war had ended. Though he was held prisoner for a time after the battle of Stony Point July 16, 1779. But returned to fight the end of the war (perhaps he escaped like John Clayton) Was sent to Halifax Nova Scotia on a guard detail, and eventually deserted. John Clayton seemed to follow a similar trail to Halifax and back again. Both men settled next to one another in freeman. Our family branch may be responsible for the Burgoyne rumor, so I thought I would clear this up :)Freeman1809https://www.blogger.com/profile/12819572329805557500noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-103686796862913161.post-13637792879591597052017-07-12T10:15:59.173-04:002017-07-12T10:15:59.173-04:00Pam, I am so sorry to read about the loss of your ...Pam, I am so sorry to read about the loss of your dear mother.
